Running BusinessObjects reports? Make sure you've got the latest version!

Did you know it's possible to run outdated versions of Business Objects reports? When new report versions are published, those new versions contain important bug fixes and additional features. Our reporting tool prevents us from completely hiding or removing the outdated versions of reports, so sometimes users end up running those old versions by mistake. There are steps you can take to make sure you are running the latest version, however!

To ensure you are always running the newest version of a report, you can…

  • always run reports directly from the SSA Report Gallery. That's where the new reports live!

  • avoid marking reports as "Favorites", rescheduling reports from your Inbox or list of Instances, or setting reports to run regularly. Although these options can save you some time, they can also cause you to run an outdated version of a report.

Another tip: Try marking a folder as "Favorite" instead of a report!

  • compare the version of the report you ran to the newest version in the REPORTcollection. In the report's name, you can find the version at the end of the report name (for example, in MIN-01-SAG-030 - MN Core Homeless Programs - v2023.1, "v2023.1" is the version, meaning it is the first version released in 2023). You can also find the version within the report, on the Report Information tab. In REPORTcollection, look for the Current Version field when you click into the report's record. You can even see when the most recent version was published!

So that we can help users see when the report version they are running is out of date, ICA's reporting team will soon begin adding a message to old report versions when they are retired. Please contact the Helpdesk at mnhmis@icalliances.org if you have any questions.
