We Hope to See You at the NHSDC Conference in Minneapolis March 28-30

The National Human Services Data Consortium (NHSDC) is heading to Minneapolis for their Spring 2022 Conference. The theme of this conference is Data + Partnerships: Working Together to Change Lives. The NHSDC conference draws HMIS lead agency staff, CoC leadership, and HMIS users from across the country, and we’re hoping for a strong Minnesota turnout! You can learn more about this conference and register to attend at nhsdc.org.

We also want to let you know that ICA staff are co-presenting with some of our external partners at four unique sessions during this conference. If you are attending, we’d love if you dropped by! Here are some of the details on these sessions:

Session: Adventures in Joint HMIS Data Quality Monitoring

Overview: The goal of this session is to prove that partnership among CoC Coordinators, state funders, and HMIS administrators to monitor HMIS data quality is not just possible, but also can be fun and effective, and can serve as a model for future partnership among key collaborators in the work of ending homelessness.

Session: Connecting Data Across Systems to Support Vaccination Efforts for People Experiencing Homelessness

Overview: This session will provide an overview of the data sharing agreement to match HMIS data, matching methodology, and discuss how Minnesota Department of Health has used the results from this partnership to support vaccination efforts for people experiencing homelessness across Minnesota.

Session:  Get the Work Done and Feel Good About It – Project Management Strategies for Effective and Vibrant Organizations

Overview: In this session, we will take participants on our journey to developing an effective resource management approach. We will share the technical tools we utilize along with principles and strategies that help us get work done across departments. We will also share our experience with building transparency so that our partners understand the work we are doing and the value it creates.

Session:  Integrating Data to Drive Progress Ending Student Homelessness

Overview: Since 2014, a Minnesota initiative called Homework Starts with Home has been providing families with housing assistance with the goal of ending student homelessness. Researchers at the University of Minnesota partnered with several state and local agencies to understand the state of student homelessness in Minnesota, and the effects of the HSWH housing assistance program. The research partnership leveraged Minn-LInK, a unique platform for integrating administrative data from state and local agencies (including student records, economic assistance, child welfare, and other data) with information about homeless program involvement from state agencies and the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS). This session will describe the initiative's ambitious goals for using integrated data to illuminate student homelessness and its solutions, methodological and practical challenges in achieving a holistic picture of student experiences, and research studies and findings that this unique partnership has fostered.

We hope to see you there!
