HUD CoC Funded PSH Projects Data Entry Change

In July 2019, HUD promoted  and encouraged communities to explore the Moving On strategy with their PSH clients. Then, on October 1, 2021, HUD began requiring an HMIS data element called Moving On Assistance Provided (C2) for all HUD CoC  funded permanent supportive housing (PSH) projects. At that time, the new data element was added to HUD CoC assessments so that information could be added to a household’s Entry/Exit record. But our HMIS software vendor has made a necessary change to align with the HUD Data Dictionary, which means that your data entry workflow needs to change!

The Moving On Assistance Provided (C2) data element is now entered in HMIS using Service Transactions. Assessments have been updated to reflect the changes and any HUD CoC funded PSH provider should now record this data element in the Service Transactions section of Community Services (fka ServicePoint).

The HUD-CoC Program HMIS User Guide and data collection forms have been updated to reflect this change in data entry workflow. For instructions on how to enter the Moving On Assistance Provided data into HMIS, please review the Data Entry Quick Reference section called “Add a Service Transaction” in the user guide. All user guides and data collection forms are on our Forms and Instructions page.

ICA has manually updated client data for those who had Moving On Assistance Provided data entered via the now-retired assessment questions. This will ensure accurate reporting for your HUD CoC funded PSH project when the CoC APR is updated to include the new HUD CoC data elements from FY2022 (for a reminder of what those were, take a look at this previous newsletter article).
