Upcoming HMIS Governing Board Elections

The HMIS Governing Board (“Board”) will now offer opportunities to apply for the End User and At Large board seats every year! Folks who are interested in joining the Board will be able to apply to be added to an annual slate of candidates. This candidate slate will be used to fill the End User and At Large seats as openings become available throughout the year.  The Board will send out an announcement for the 2020-2021 application process early next week (the week of November 16th) – Stay tuned!

What will be different?

• Opportunities to apply for the HMIS End User and At Large board seats every year instead of every three years –  Board seats have three-year terms. We previously solicited applications every three years when a current member’s term was expiring. Sometimes, life happens, and members step down from their roles on the Board before their term ends. By soliciting applications every year, we’ll have a fresh list of interested candidates and can fill an opening quickly and seamlessly.

• A shared application for both End User and At Large board seats – Anyone interested and eligible for both of these board seats can now complete one application. This way, you can save the added time of completing two applications.

When does the Board expect to have openings?

• The End User seat is currently open. The Board will review applications and select a candidate to fill this seat immediately after the application window closes.

• The At Large seat term ends in March 2021. The Board will select a candidate from the annual slate to fill this seat in early 2021.

• If any unexpected openings become available throughout the next year, the Board will select a candidate from the annual slate to fill the opening.
