Turning Data into Insight: New resource using HMIS data to shine light on homelessness in Minnesota
Using 2018 HMIS data, ICA created a fact sheet meant to help tell the story of homelessness in our state. These quick stats can be useful in conversations with donors, funders, policy makers, and even people in the comments section of internet news articles.
Here’s a sneak peek:
In 2018, two-thirds of people entering homelessness were homeless for the first time.
Of people who exited shelters, transitional housing, or rapid re-housing, about one-third were headed to permanent destinations.
For families who experienced homelessness in 2018, the state response system has permanent housing capacity for almost 70% of them. That’s great news, and much better than the national comparison.
