Meet the MN Dash to End Homelessness
We’re thrilled to introduce Minnesota’s HMIS community to a new tool for measuring our state’s progress toward ending homelessness. Click here to access the new dashboard.
The MN Dash to End Homelessness tool is a modified version of the MN Monthly Dashboard, which will be retired. Its new features and even its name came from suggestions by HMIS users. Thank you to all those who provided input!
Here are just some examples of the insights to be found in the MN Dash:
There were more than 65,000 persons served in the homelessness response system across the state in the first quarter of 2021. Find this number on the home page (Total Clients Served)
Less than half (nearly 30,000) were persons in families. Find this number on the Demographics page (Family Type)
Of those persons in families:
67% were Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Find this number on the Demographics page (Race/Ethnicity with Family Type detail selected)
55% were children. Find this number on the Demographics page (Age with Family Type detail selected)
2,770 were served in emergency shelter and street outreach settings. Find this number on the Demographics page (Family Type with project type filter set to ES and SO)
During that time, families in emergency shelter and street outreach exited to permanent housing at a greater rate than single persons. Find this number on the Performance page (compare Total Clients Exiting to Permanent Housing, with Family Type Detail selected and project type filter set to ES and SO, to Total Clients Exiting with the same parameters)
You can find this information and much more in the dashboard. If you have questions about how to use this new tool, check out a Guide to having conversations about the data or contact the Helpdesk.
