DHS Housing Support (GRH) Projects to Participate in HMIS Fall 2017

As announced by the Department of Human Services this summer, all providers that receive Housing Support funding (formerly GRH) to serve people in long-term homeless supportive housing programs or in emergency shelters will start participating in Minnesota’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) this fall. This participation comes after 2015 legislation stated that Emergency Shelters receiving program funding, and supportive housing settings that serve people who are long-term homeless, are required to participate in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). The timeline that ICA currently has in place for this implementation is below:

  • Now through mid-September: We will be collecting information from agencies about their setup needs. If this applies to your agency, you should have already been contacted with details via email. If you believe you should have been contacted, please email us at grh@icalliances.org.
  • Early October: We will have training available that is specific to Housing Support users. We will be sending out information and reminders to agencies once the training is ready to go.
  • November 1st: Go Live Date. This is the date your agency should begin entering clients into HMIS for your Housing Support projects. This move into HMIS will NOT require back log entry. The only clients you will need to enter into HMIS are those that are being served by your agency on or after 11/1/17.

If you have any questions, please email the Housing Support Inbox directly at grh@icalliances.org. Be sure to also check out the Housing Support in HMIS FAQ as an additional reference.
