Solid Improvement in QDQ
During the Monitoring section of the Quarterly Data Quality (QDQ) process, project types get special attention in particular quarters. For example, in March, emergency shelters and transitional housing project types are examined more closely. When this happens, a high score threshold and a low score threshold is set for a score category.
If a provider score exceeds the high score threshold, they are recognized for their exemplary work. If a provider score falls below the low threshold, they are contacted and given a few options for ways to address the low score; an opportunity to get help with their data.

Once a quarter passes into history, a new quarter has started. That means an opportunity to improve upon the data quality. In fact, after looking at the data from Quarter 2 of 2021 to Quarter 1 of 2022, one can see that the providers whose scores fall below the low threshold in one quarter do make efforts to improve their data quality. In that twelve-month stretch, all project types are represented and about 3 out of 5 (58.3%) of every low scoring provider from one quarter shows an improved score in the following quarter.
That is encouraging!
Whether this is the result of more planning, changed habits, increased scrutiny of data going in, or a combination of all the above, the result is better data. Better data helps tell a better story for the individuals and families experiencing homelessness which is just one more way to get help going in the right direction.
