Looking Ahead: Coordinated Entry in HMIS
In the last ICA newsletter, we celebrated the anniversary of HUD’s 2020 Coordinated Entry data standards, whose introduction dramatically altered how Coordinated Entry systems utilize HMIS. This time around, let’s take a look at what ICA has been up to and what’s coming next.
What has ICA been doing to support Coordinated Entry systems since March 2020?
Building six new ART reports and one new dashboard.
Improving ART reports, including 21 feature enhancements and 7 bug fixes for the Priority List report.
Updating guidance for HUD CoC grantees and assisting those grantees with their APR submissions.
Working with the Hennepin County and Suburban Metro Area CoCs to incorporate diversion processes into HMIS.
Creating an internal Coordinated Entry Specialist role to dedicate more resources to supporting this crucial work.
What is coming next?
Updating the workflow for Housing Navigation projects to make HMIS a better tool for navigators.
Developing a data quality review process to ensure that HMIS data accurately reflects the situation of clients engaged with Coordinated Entry.
Updating assessments to simplify data entry and make the data collected more impactful.
Incorporating changes requested by CoCs, like the removal of the VI-SPDAT and the inclusion of more equitable assessment questions.
