HUD Reaffirms Its Commitment to Equal Access Regardless of Gender Identity

We want to spread the good word that Secretary Marcia Fudge, the new head of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announced last month that HUD is withdrawing the previously proposed restrictions that would have weakened the Equal Access Rule. The Equal Access Rule provides protections for individuals to access housing and shelter regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

Secretary Fudge shared, “Today, we are taking a critical step in affirming HUD’s commitment that no person be denied access to housing or other critical services because of their gender identity. HUD is open for business for all.”
