HMIS Governing Board 2021 Officer Elections: Become the HMIS Board Secretary

Are you passionate about the role of HMIS in ending statewide homelessness? Do you take pride in your organizational and note-taking skills?  Nominate yourself to become the HMIS Governing Board Secretary!

The HMIS Governing Board (“Board”) will elect new Board Officers at our March meeting. We are seeking nominations for the Secretary position! This position is open to any MN HMIS stakeholder who is interested in supporting the work of the Board and improving HMIS.

The Secretary’s Role: The Secretary makes sure that all actions and the minutes of all proceedings of the Board are recorded and maintains Board documents and records.

The Secretary’s main duties are to:

  • Record minutes of all Board meetings.

  • Ensure distribution of minutes to all members and stakeholders.

  • Carry out the duties of the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson in the event both officers are absent.

Eligibility: The Secretary position is open to any stakeholder who is interested in shaping how HMIS is used to address and end homelessness in Minnesota. This position is not limited to Board members, so anyone who is interested may nominate themselves.

The Board strives to include diverse representation to advance our work to support Minnesota's HMIS.  When we talk about diversity, we mean diversity in:

  • Identity -- including age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual identity and orientation, national origin, disability, geography, etc.

  • Experience -- including experience facing homelessness, experience providing direct service, experience using HMIS and/or other complex databases, etc.

  • Skills -- including finance/budgeting, research and evaluation, communications/marketing, collaborative decision-making, etc.

Secretary Term: Officers serve one-year terms (April 2021 – March 2022). Elections will be held again in March 2022.
