Happy Anniversary, Coordinated Entry Data Standards!

It is hard to believe that almost a year has passed since Minnesota’s Coordinated Entry systems saw a massive shift in the way they use HMIS. On March 23rd, 2020, HUD’s Coordinated Entry data standards went into effect, introducing new data elements and new practices for recording client participation.

Read on for a recap of the data standards changes and a sampling of Coordinated Entry statistics from the past year.

Data Standards Changes

  • HMIS users complete a new data element, called “Coordinated Entry Assessment,” when assessing clients.

  • Instead of service transactions, Coordinated Entry “Events” are used to track housing referrals.

  • The element “Current Living Situation” captures where a client is currently staying.

  • Every Continuum of Care (CoC) in Minnesota now uses Entry/Exits to maintain its priority list.

  • New reports enable users to fulfill their daily responsibilities and to identify trends in Coordinated Entry data over time.

Coordinated Entry by the Numbers

Statewide data for March 23, 2020 – January 31, 2021
