Apply to Join the HMIS Governing Board!
The Minnesota Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Governing Board is seeking applicants for our End User and At Large Seats! Applicants will be added to an annual applicant slate that will be used to fill the End User and At Large seats as openings become available throughout the year.
Applications can be completed via this Google Form. The deadline to submit applications is Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
Please note: If you have applied to the annual applicant slate in the past, you will need to apply again to be included in this new annual applicant slate.
Who can apply?
Governing Board membership is open to individuals across the state of Minnesota. The End User seat is designated for current HMIS End Users and the At Large seat is open to any stakeholders who are interested in shaping how HMIS is used to address and end homelessness in Minnesota (CoC Coordinators and State agency staff are not eligible to serve in the At Large role).
The Board strives to include diverse representation to advance our work to support Minnesota's HMIS. When we talk about diversity, we mean diversity in:
Identity -- including age, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual identity and orientation, national origin, disability, geography, etc.
Experience -- including experience facing homelessness, experience providing direct service, experience using HMIS and/or other complex databases, etc.
Skills -- including finance/budgeting, research and evaluation, communications/marketing, collaborative decision-making, etc.
So, what’s the commitment?
Board members commit to full and active participation in board efforts including attending monthly board meetings, participating in at least one committee, volunteering for ad hoc work groups, and independent preparation work. The time commitment is approximately 10 hours per month.
Board meetings are held virtually from 9:30am – 11:30am on the second Monday of every month.

When will there be openings?
The End User seat term ends in March 2022. The Board will select a candidate from the annual slate to fill this seat in early 2022.
If any unexpected openings become available throughout the next year, the Board will select a candidate from the annual slate to fill the opening.

There are plenty of other options to get involved in HMIS planning! Please consider getting involved by attending meetings, being added to email distribution lists, or joining one of our great committees or workgroups!
Participating in the work of the HMIS Board is never “all or nothing.” If you’re passionate about improving HMIS, sign up to help however it fits in with your current capacity.
