2022 Recertification Information:
Beginning last year, ICA MN launched an annual Data Privacy & Security Recertification plan for all HMIS users in our state that better aligned us with both HUD’s requirements of System Administrators, and with the MN HMIS Governing Board’s policies as well.
Once again this year, every current HMIS user is required to complete the 2022 Annual Data Privacy & Security Recertification training by October 18th, 2022 in order to keep your access to HMIS active.
NOTE: Any user who completed MN HMIS user training and was setup in the live site after August 1st, 2022 will NOT be required to complete the 2022 Recertification!
Dates to remember:
Tuesday, September 6th, 2022: Recertification training content available for all users in Moodle!
Tuesday, October 4th, 2022: Deadline for all HMIS users to complete their 2022 Recertification Training.
Tuesday, October 18th, 2022: The revised and final deadline for the 2022 Data Privacy & Security Certification training required for all current HMIS users has been extended to October 18th.
Accessing Moodle
Existing Moodle Users
All HMIS live site users at the time of the Recertification last year (September 2021) were set up with a Moodle account. Additionally, any new users since then who have gone through HMIS MN user training also have Moodle accounts.

If you cannot remember your password, Moodle has a very responsive password self-reset function on its log-in page, located right below the “Log in” button. Click on the words “Forgotten your username and password?” and follow the prompts on the site:
New Moodle Users
If for any reason you do not yet have a Moodle account, please email the HMIS MN Helpdesk at mnhmis@icalliances.org for assistance.
How to Start
When you login to Moodle, you will see the 2022 Recertification Training program listed on your Dashboard. Click on Start to complete the video and quiz in order!
Required Activities:
Watch the MN Data Privacy & Security Certification video (14 mins.) to ensure we each do our important part to keep client data safe and secure.
Complete a short quiz to check for understanding of the video content.
How will you know when you are finished?
You will need to watch the required video and pass the quiz in Moodle to complete this training requirement. Once you have completed both requirements, you should see a green bar notification (pictured below) on your Moodle Dashboard telling you that the "2022 Annual Data Privacy and Security Certification is completed.”
Once you see this, there is no other action for you to take! ICA staff will track user completion in Moodle, so don’t worry about submitting anything else.
If you believe you have completed all the content in the Recertification training, but you are not seeing the green bar on your Dashboard, please reach out to the Helpdesk to let us investigate further.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Any other training programs you see on your Moodle Dashboard are regular HMIS user training content that is now simply there for you to access anytime you'd like, whenever you need to refresh your HMIS skills.
