QDQ: It’s not too late to start OR to get back in the habit.
The QDQ report provides the opportunity for agencies to review the data they have put in the HMIS and, when needed, update, confirm, or correct that data. While it is unlikely that a provider will have 100% scores in the first run of the report, and a 100% score is not even expected at the final submission of scores, it is important to take part in QDQ.
The QDQ process started in 2020. Some agencies participated right away, and others joined as they found out more about QDQ. In either case, participation can be beneficial to the clients that agencies serve. High quality data helps to tell the story of the individuals and families experiencing homelessness need to be told.
If your agency has never participated in QDQ, or you haven’t participated in a while, give it a try. Think of it as going to a lake in the Minnesota summer.
Dip your toes in. Even if all you do is run the report once and report your scores, there is a baseline of data quality that we can start working on together.
Slowly wade in. Run the report, correct anything from the Fix These First! tab, and submit your scores. Maybe you’ll go even further and clean up another tab that only has a few easy fixes to make.
Jump in. Set aside some times in the next few weeks to really get the data in good shape. Maybe summer is a bit slower for you and this is a great time to do a bigger, annual clean-up.
Whatever level of participation you choose, it is appreciated and supported. The ICA Helpdesk is ready to answer your questions about data clean-up and we have Knowledge Base articles linked in the report to guide you through the clean-up.
Getting housing for people in need can involve a series of many small steps. Think of QDQ as a part of that journey. Even a few steps might make a difference.
